Alberta launches Accelerated Tech Pathway

EDMONTON ― Alberta’s Minister of Labour and Immigration, Tyler Shandro, has announced the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway launch, a new initiative to help foreign workers working in high-demand fields like technology get PR quickly. The announcement was made on January 13, 2022.

The Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway under Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) will provide fast-track PNP immigration to eligible applicants in these fields who are currently working for or have a job offer with an Alberta-based tech industry employer in a suitable tech occupation.

This initiative aims to support the tech sector’s growth in Alberta to create a more diverse workforce with a stronger talent pool for employers looking to hire workers with specialized skill sets in the technology sector.

Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway Eligibility Requirements:

  • Have a Federal Express Entry profile with a minimum CRS score of 300
  • Working full time or having a job offer in an eligible occupation from an Alberta based employer
  • The primary occupation in the Express Entry profile must match with Alberta employment/job offer

Along with the priority process, tech professionals will also get a letter of support from the Government of Alberta if they require a work permit.
